Feb 18, 2013 World Bank Mission to KCDP Underway at KMFRI
The first World Bank mission to KCDP in 2013 began on 4th February. The overall objective of this Mission is to assess and evaluate the progress achieved so far by component 1, 2 and 4. However, the main focus is Component 4 and especially the progress to date under the Hazina ya Maendeleo ya Pwani (HMP) sub component. In addition, the Mission will also have the opportunity to discuss emerging issues and also expedite project progress by addressing challenges raised.

Feb 18, 2013 KCDP Supports activities marking the World Fisheries Day
Kenya Coastal Development Project (KCDP), a World Bank funded project hosted by the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) has releases the first tranche of over KSh 205 million for various development activities within the coast region.
Feb 18, 2013 KCDP boosts mangrove conservation along the Kenya Coast
Activities of Component 2 of the Kenya Coastal Development Project (KCDP) have taken off on a high note. The Component has set out to develop a national mangrove management plan for the conservation and expansion of the mangrove forests in the coast region. Mangroves are very efficient carbon sinks and play a key role in mitigating against climate change. In addition, they act as breeding areas for fish and other marine life.

In conjunction with the 3rd Coral Triangle Regional Business Forum (3rd RBF) in Bali on 24-26 March 2013, the Organizing Committee has designed Road to 3rd CT RBF to stimulate public awareness of the Forum by conducting Journalist Writing Competition and Youth Essay Competition.
Feb 18, 2013 GEF CReW Workshops on Appropriate Wastewater Treatment Technologies
As part of its capacity building activities, CReW organized two workshops on Appropriate Wastewater Treatment Technologies.  The first, for representatives of its English-speaking countries, took place 30 September—1 October, immediately preceding CWWA 2012 in The Bahamas.  The second, for CReW’s Spanish-speaking countries, took place immediately after the Second Steering Committee Meeting, 22—23 November, in San Jose, Costa Rica.
